RICKY GERVAIS
Slightly tubby comic Ricky Gervais, creator of the original British version of The Office, will this month direct and star in The Invention of Lying, along with a large ensemble cast. He’s also working on a film based on Flanimals, his childrens’ book series. Gervais, 48, is a big animal rights supporter, and PETA gave him an honorary bullock for his birthday in June.
AMANDA SEYFRIED
Cool, doe-eyed blonde Amanda Seyfried, from Big Love, Mamma Mia! And the under-rated Alpha Dog, will star this month in the horror-comedy Jennifer’s Body, written by Diablo Cody (Juno). Seyfried, 23, dates her Mamma Mia! co-star, Brit actor Dominic Cooper. Raised in Pennsylvania, she says her childhood dream was to become a meteorologist.
CAM GIGANDET
Hunky blonde Cam Gigandet (ji-gon-day) got his big break playing a surfer on The O.C. This month, he’ll be in the sci-fi thriller Pandorum, and in November he’ll star in Mario Van Peebles’s Kerosene Cowboys. An avid sportsman, Gigandet, 27, has a black belt in the Israeli martial art krav maga. He and his girlfriend had a baby girl in April.
