| Caroline Cave | December 2009 Movie Entertainment
It’s pretty unusual for actresses to have the kind of whirlwind fall Caroline Cave is having. Not only is she starring in the latest slasher flick Saw VI, she can also be seen in Paul Gross’s sexy Showcase series Cra$h & Burn. On top of all of that, she’s busy planning her New Year’s Eve wedding in Vancouver. It’s enough to make anyone else go batty, except, of course, this calm, cool and collected actress.
The stunning leading lady has starred in dozens of acclaimed and award-winning productions, including The Canadian Stage Company’s The Syringa Tree (for which she won a Dora Mavor Moore Award), The L Word and This Beautiful City (a role that won her an Actra Award for Best Actress last year).
This month, Movie Entertainment caught up with the multi-talented actress to chat about how she relaxes, her favourite food and the one place she’s dying to visit.
What is the best thing about your career? The best thing about my career is that it’s challenging and very diverse. Last year, I did five plays in Toronto and shot the pilot for Cra$h & Burn. This year, I've done a play in Vancouver and Toronto, filmed Saw VI and shot our first season of Cra$h & Burn. The parts have all been very different and I've been able to work between Vancouver and Toronto, which means I've spent more time with family.
When things get crazy… When things get crazy I get quiet and focused, but super untidy :) I love to walk or run with my eight-month-old pup and watch films and theatre as an escape (also as a reminder of why I do what I do).
What is the best gift you’ve ever received? Best gift I've ever received, sounds cheesy, but my health and the opportunity to live in a clean, relatively safe, relatively wealthy country.
What scares you the most? Losing a loved one.
Inspiration… My Fiancé. He inspires me every day.
What quality do you most admire in a person? Resilience: without that the others can be destroyed.
Favourite food… Thai.
Who is the actor or director you’d most like to work with? Actor: Judi Dench. Director: Right now, it’s Joe Wright.
What is your most valued possession? My wedding/engagement ring.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received? From my father: It's a marathon, not a sprint.
Your ultimate vacation destination… Italian Riviera.
How do you spend your free time? I spend my downtime reading, listening to music, seeing live music, planning my wedding, walking my dog, seeing films and theatre, planning my wedding and sleeping!!!
