PUBLIC ENEMIES (2009)
Johnny Depp is bank robber John Dillinger, Channing Tatum is Pretty Boy Floyd and Christian Bale is FBI agent Melvin Purvis in this Michael Mann directed drama about crime, punishment and the Depression in America. What does it mean when you’re rooting for the bad guys?

SNATCH (2000)
The world of diamond thieves and the world of illegal, bare-knuckle boxing collide head-on, with an ensemble cast that includes Brad Pitt, Benicio Del Toro, Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones and Dennis Farina. Hilarious, criminal fun, and directed by Guy Ritchie before Madonna started messing with him.

BONNIE & CLYDE (1967)
Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker knocked off stores and gas stations in the early 1930s. This film, with Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, was one of the first in a new wave of Hollywood movies in the 1960s and ’70s. See it before you even think of seeing the remake.

SCARFACE (1983)
Al Pacino as Tony Montana, Cuban cocaine dealer, killer and full participant in the American Dream. Over-the-top violence and action – and bad Latino accents – make this one a huge cult hit. With Michelle Pfeiffer and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio.

RESERVOIR DOGS (1992)
Several jewel thieves come together for a heist. A betrayal leads them to believe that one of their number is a police informant. Plenty of bloodletting follows. Quentin Tarantino directs Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Chris Penn, Steve Buscemi.

CASINO (1995)
Martin Scorsese presents three hours of Vegas in its golden age, all pimps and card sharks, glitter, graft and violence. Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone star, aided and abetted by such people as James Woods, Don Rickles and Alan King. There oughta be a law.
